Yes, in fact, I’m Catholic.
Which some might find surprising given that I write not very Christian books.
Growing up my mum and I would go to Church every Sunday, but when I became a teenager I found myself pulling away from the church and my faith.
Now, as an adult in my 30s, I find myself clinging onto my faith and church community like a life support. I look forward to Sundays because I can truly appreciate the feeling it gives me to be amongst the community, and have the space to reflect and pray with others.
Religion is a topic I tend to avoid discussing due to experiences where my religion has been openly insulted and mocked in my presence. I’m respectful of all choices and religion, I don’t cross boundaries or cause offense, though sadly the same can’t be said for others.
My books give me the freedom and courage to write about multiple gods (some good, some bad) and characters – devout or atheist – who still form strong, respectful and beautiful bonds despite their views.
